You Are Not Defined by Shame

Hi, Friend!

Shame has no hold on a redeemed child of God. Shame may follow your past, but God rewrites your future with grace.

Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

A Psalm of Praise and Thanks

Psalm 32

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was drained as in the heat of summer.

Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the guilt of my sin.

Therefore let every godly one pray to You while You may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Do not be like the horse or mule, which have no understanding; they must be controlled by bit and bridle, or they will not come to you.

Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but loving devotion surrounds him who trusts in the LORD. Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.
A Psalm for Mercy and Help

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to You, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to my plea for mercy.

If You, O LORD, kept a record of iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be feared.

I wait for the LORD; my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is loving devotion, and with Him is redemptive abundance. And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.
Brief Prayer

Lord, thank You that shame no longer has power over me.
You see me not through the lens of failure, but through the cross.

Break the lies that try to chain me to my past.
Remind me that Your forgiveness is complete and final.

Help me walk in the identity You have given me.
Let my life reflect the freedom of Your love.

Keep me from ever returning to the weight of condemnation.
Amen.
