Victory Begins in the Secret Place

Hi, Friend!

What you build in private with God will shape your public victory. Go to the source.

Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

A Psalm of Praise and Thanks

Psalm 63

O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my body longs for You in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory.

Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You. So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise You with joyful lips.

When I remember You upon my bed, I meditate on You through the watches of the night. For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I will sing for joy. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.

But those who seek to destroy my life will go into the depths of the earth. They will be given over to the power of the sword; they will become a portion for jackals. But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by Him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be silenced.
A Psalm for Mercy and Help

Psalm 55

Listen to my prayer, O God, and do not hide from my plea. Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and distraught at the voice of the enemy, at the pressure of the wicked; for they bring down misery upon me and assail me in their anger.

My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fear and trembling have gripped me, and horror has overwhelmed me. I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.

I would flee far away and lodge in the wilderness. I would hurry to my shelter, far from the tempest and storm.” Lord, confound them and confuse their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city.

Day and night they prowl the walls; malice and abuse are within. Destruction is in her midst; oppression and deceit never leave her streets.

For it is not an enemy who insults me—that I could endure; it is not a foe who rises against me—from him I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion and my close friend.

We once enjoyed sweet fellowship; we walked with the crowd into the house of God. Let death come take them by surprise; let them go down alive to Sheol, for evil dwells within their home.

But I call upon God, and the LORD will save me. Evening, morning, and noon I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice. He redeems my soul in peace from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.

God will hear and humble them—He who is enthroned from of old—because they do not change and they do not fear God. My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant.

His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are softer than oil, yet they are drawn swords. Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.

But You, O God, will bring the wicked down into the pit of destruction; men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But as for me, I will trust in You.
