Clothe Yourself with Compassion

Hi, Friend!

Compassion is more than a feeling — it’s a deliberate choice to reflect God’s heart to a hurting world. Just as we put on clothes each day, Scripture urges us to “clothe ourselves” with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (Colossians 3:12). When we allow God to soften our hearts, even small acts of love become powerful expressions of His mercy.

Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

A Psalm of Praise and Thanks

Psalm 84

How lovely is Your dwelling place, O LORD of Hosts!

My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she places her young near Your altars, O LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.

Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they are ever praising You. Selah.

Blessed are those whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.

As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; even the autumn rain covers it with pools.

They go from strength to strength, until each appears before God in Zion.

O LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

Take notice of our shield, O God, and look with favor on the face of Your anointed.

For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

O LORD of Hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!
A Psalm for Mercy and Help

Psalm 39

I said, “I will watch my ways so that I will not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are present.”

I was speechless and silent; I kept from speaking, even about good, but my anguish increased.

My heart grew hot within me; as I mused, the fire burned. Then I spoke with my tongue:

“Show me, O LORD, my end and the measure of my days. Let me know how fleeting my life is.

You, indeed, have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing before You. Truly each man at his best exists as but a breath. Selah

Surely every man goes about like a phantom; surely he bustles about in vain; he heaps up riches not knowing who will haul them away.

And now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope rests in You.

Deliver me from all my transgressions; do not make me the reproach of fools.

I am silent; I will not open my mouth, for You are the one who has done this.

Remove Your scourge from me; I am overcome by the blow of Your hand.

You discipline a man with rebukes for his iniquity, consuming like a moth what he holds dear. Surely every man is but a breath. Selah

Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. For I am a foreigner dwelling with You, a stranger like all my fathers.

Turn Your gaze away from me, that I may be cheered before I depart and am no more.”
Brief Prayer

Father, help me to be clothed with compassion each day.
Replace hardness with tenderness and pride with humility.

Teach me to show kindness to those who struggle.
Let mercy flow from my heart as it flows from Yours.
Guard me from indifference toward the pain of others.

Help me to reflect the love of Christ in every action.
Make me a vessel of comfort and grace in this world.
Amen.
