Choose What Is Better

Hi, Friend!

God invites you to sit at His feet. Like Mary, choose what is better—relationship over rush and distraction.

Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

A Psalm of Praise and Thanks

Psalm 84

How lovely is Your dwelling place, O LORD of Hosts!

My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she places her young near Your altars, O LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.

Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they are ever praising You. Selah.

Blessed are those whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.

As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; even the autumn rain covers it with pools.

They go from strength to strength, until each appears before God in Zion.

O LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

Take notice of our shield, O God, and look with favor on the face of Your anointed.

For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

O LORD of Hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!
A Psalm for Mercy and Help

Psalm 56

Be merciful to me, O God, for men are hounding me; all day they press their attack.

My enemies pursue me all day long, for many proudly assail me. When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.

In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

All day long they twist my words; all their thoughts are on my demise.

They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps while they wait to take my life.

In spite of such sin, will they escape? In Your anger, O God, cast down the nations.

You have taken account of my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle—are they not in Your book?

Then my enemies will retreat on the day I cry for help. By this I will know that God is on my side.

In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.

What can man do to me? Your vows are upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to You.

For You have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
Brief Prayer

Father, help me choose what matters most in life.
Keep me from being distracted by lesser things.

Remind me that time in Your presence is the greatest treasure.
Teach me to sit at Your feet and listen for Your voice.

When I am pulled in many directions, center me in Your truth.
Give me wisdom to choose what is eternal over what is temporary.
Let my heart delight in Your presence above all else.
Amen
